Hitch Light and Trailer Plug Conversion Kit for Mid 2000s Toyota 4x4s (GX470, FJ, 4th Gen 4Runner, 1st Gen Tundra & Sequoia)

Finally, a solution for installing Diode Dynamics hitch lights on mid 2000s Toyota 4x4s!  This era of Toyotas all came equipped with a single piece non-replaceable trailer plug that runs back to a pair of larger connectors, this connector setup wasnt compatible with any of Diodes current lighting kits up until now.  This kit adapts Diodes 5th Gen 4Runner C1R hitch light, and requires updating your trailer plug (and potentially its bracket) to a modern USCAR standard version to match the harness output.  With most of these rigs having clapped out old trailer plugs, which are an oddball dealer part, its a benefit to convert to a replaceable standardized trailer plug setup. 

The following vehicles are compatible with this kit (see reference photo in gallery to verify chassis side plug/harness compatibility):

• 4th gen 4runner
• Gx470
• FJ
• 1st gen Tundra
• 1st gen Sequioia

There are a few options from harness only to full solution:

A: Adapter harness only

B: Adapter Harness ($20 OFF) + Diode Dynamics C1R hitch mount pod kit

• You will still need to procure USCAR 7pin tow plug and install it.  These plugs can work with factory brackets in most cases if holes are drilled.  Recommended Curt 55415

C: Adapter Harness ($35 OFF) + DD C1R Hitch Pod Kit + Curt Trailer Plug + Universal Mount Bracket/Hardware (1/8" Aluminum)

• Should be able to bolt to any two reasonably spaced 8mm/5/16" holes you've got at the ass end of your rig, see dimensioned drawing to double check

D: Adapter Harness ($35 OFF) + DD C1R Hitch Pod Kit + Curt Trailer Plug + Style A Bracket/Hardware (1/8" Aluminum)
