With the ‘01-03 Miata, Mazda engineers fixed the oddball fog light bracket & housing situation on the NB1s and mounted fogs directly to the bumper, but ultimately picked a fairly small uncommon fog light housing.  No manufacturers made upgraded versions of this housing due to limited other models using it, and Mada made the cutouts in the bumper too small for common 2 ½” fog lights to fit properly.

This kit uses a conversion bracket and spacers to adapt to one of the most common 2 ½” fog light housings on the market, unofficially called “Type A”.  These are used in most modern Hondas, Fords, and Subarus.  See diagram below for more info

‘04-05 Miatas were updated to use the same “Type A” fog housings used in this kit and these models don't require this conversion.  However, if you are missing the factory brackets/harnesses for your late year NB2, this kit can act as a direct replacement

For NB1s that have been converted to NB2 front ends, I offer a kit option that includes brackets and hardware to bolt up to the NB2 bumper and harnesses to plug into factory NB1 body harness.  Your NB1 will need to have already been factory equipped with wiring provisions for fog lights.

If you plan to stick with halogen, you'll be converting from 65w H1 bulbs to a lower power 55w H11 bulb.  This swap is typically done to convert to a housing style with aftermarket LED/custom options, or due to lack of availability of quality factory replacements.

Trimmed Fitment Vs No Trim:  2 ½” fog lights don't fit through the 2-⅜” diameter fog light holes in the stock ‘01-03 bumpers and end up recessed behind the bumper a bit.  I’m offering one version of my kit that will mount the fogs slightly recessed without modifications to the bumper, and another version which includes a stainless trim template and different lengths of hardware to move the fog light housings ½” forward.  To be completely honest I think most people won’t be bothered by the less than ideal fitment/wont want to trim their bumper and will opt for the no-trim fitment, but I wanted to make the ideal solution available for those who who don’t like the recessed fitment and aren’t afraid to do some dremeling.  I’ll also be offering a “both” kit since the hardware cost difference isn’t too bad so you’ve got options.  In the kit instructions I’ll outline some tips to safely and cleanly trim the openings without special tools
